Our panel of speakers will each focus on a different type of change – sharing insights, experiences and practical steps to inspire action.

Speakers

Sarah Baker - Programme Coordinator (Postgraduate Design) and Head of Research - Media Design School
Sarah is a design and cultural studies expert with 15 years of teaching and research experience. Her work focuses on design methodologies, including UX design, critical design, ethics, systems thinking, and speculative futures, with a special interest in the intersection of design and inequality, particularly gender. Sarah is passionate about reducing the theory-practice gap in postgraduate programs by fostering collaboration between students, researchers, and industry professionals. Before joining Media Design School, she lectured at Victoria University of Wellington, Middlesex University, and the University of East London, and worked in arts marketing with major exhibitions at the Hayward Gallery in London.
Melonie Cole - Founder - Mindshift
Melonie is an award-winning entrepreneur and the founder of Mindshift, a boutique cybersecurity training business. With a dynamic background in senior roles within publishing and telecommunications, Melonie made a bold transition into the cybersecurity space, driven by her passion for communication and a deep desire to make a difference. Her entrepreneurial journey serves as a powerful example of how embracing new challenges and innovative thinking can pave the way for pioneering contributions in cybersecurity. As a speaker, Melonie shares her insights on navigating career transitions and the importance of driving change in emerging industries.
Loren Shand - Group Manager, Design & Channels, Sector Digital Services, Data & Digital - Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora
Loren Shand is the GM for Design and Channels within Digital for Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora. With over 18-years’ experience working in complex large scale business environments, leading a range of diverse, multidisciplinary teams to achieve organisational outcomes. Loren is an Authentic leader who strives to support individuals and teams to achieve their best, and lives to bring great outcomes to the population. In her current role within Health NZ, her team's Vision and purpose is to ‘ We partner with consumers & workforce to improve access to health information and services through the digitally enabled channels of their choice.’  The consumer is at the core of our values in all the work we do.
