I wonder: Women in tech

The National Library is hosting a free online talk about women in tech.

In this episode of ‘I wonder’ talk, marking 130 years since the signing of the 1893 Women’s Suffrage Petition, we look at the representation of women in the tech industry with Eva Sherwood, Co-Chair of TechWomen.

Why are there so few women in tech?

Although women were the first computer programmers, we now have stubbornly low numbers of women studying computer science and technology at a tertiary level and an overall minority of women filling our tech companies and tech roles.

More importantly, why is this something that needs to change? And what can we do about it?

‘I wonder’ is a series that explores the many and varied potential futures of Aotearoa and the planet. Weaving subject experts, scholars and future-thinkers, this series aims to expand our minds and leave us curious in our quest for knowledge.
