Returnships: Can you help?

In 2017 TechWomen in partnership with MBIE, Ministry for Women, the National Advisory Council on the Employment of Women, and NZRise ran a pilot programme called “Return to IT”.

The programme’s focus was on assisting women who have taken a career break to return to work in the digital technology workforce. Women can face a number of barriers when re-entering the workforce, especially in the tech sector where skills and trends evolve quickly.

Return to IT worked with a number of organisations who were willing to support flexible work schedules, help with training and upskilling to current industry standards and provide mentoring, to ensure these returnees had a successful transition back into the workforce.

The pilot has now concluded and TechWomen would like to use the learning to produce a handbook for any organisation interested in attracting and supporting this largely untapped talent pool into their workplace.

We are looking for your support to make this happen! How can you help?

  • We need pro-bono professional services in the form of copywriters, HR consultants, or generally awesome people who can put together a document worthy of publishing!
  • we would love an organisation guru to coordinate people to get this done! Are you a project manager keen to make a difference?
  •  Maybe your organisation could share a case study? Has your organisation set up a great return to work programme that you want to share?
  •  Or could your organisation sponsor the handbook? We could use the funding to employ some wonderful professionals to finish off the job.

Please contact us team@techwomen.nz if you can provide any help!
