Kia ora,
Welcome to our May newsletter.
We’re excited to share that our Co-Chair, Samar Alrayyes, represented us at APEC 2025 SOM2 in Jeju Island, South Korea last week. The conference was both fascinating and important as TechWomen aims to help create a better future where women have a seat at the table and equal opportunities in tech careers. We are grateful to The Australian APEC Study Centre for their sponsorship and making this happen. You can read more about key takeaways from the event in Samar’s blog article here.
📅 Techweek Events (19-25 May)
Our ‘Women in Data & AI: Journeys, Insights and Myth-Busting’ event has sold out, but there are plenty of other ways to connect with TechWomen during Techweek:
- Executive Director Yvonne Gill will be speaking at the Winning from the Waikato event, promoting ShadowTech25 and Mentoring Circles in the Waikato region.
- Visit our stand at CreativeHQ ‘Working in the cloud – Tech Careers Event 2025’ where Executive Council members will be talking to schools about ShadowTech25.
- Former TechWomen Executive Council member Pip Gilbert (AWS) will be speaking at Air New Zealand’s ‘From Entry-Level to Executive: Navigating Career Progression’ event.
There are lots of other events for women in tech during Techweek. Check them out at the bottom of this newsletter.
