Embracing Change this Autumn

Kia ora,

The year is now in full swing and I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break. We will be announcing dates for our key programmes, Mentoring Circles and ShadowTech soon, keep an eye out for dedicated communications about those. We have also been beavering away on a major new initiative which we will launch later this year.

Thank you to those who joined our IWD event on Friday 8 March. It was amazing to see so many of you and I am now contemplating how I can use Taylor Swift to inspire more women into Tech. If you weren’t able to join us on the day, and have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the recording here.

I also want to thank everyone who submitted an application to get more involved in TechWomen this year. We were overwhelmed with the response and are now working through how we can utilise all of your amazing skills, enthusiasm and support. If you haven’t heard from us we will be in touch soon.

Make sure you get involved in TechWeek 2024. Submissions are open for events at the moment and we would love to see lots of female led events and speakers happening across the motu. Event registrations will be open from mid-April.

I also want to acknowledge that this is a turbulent time for many people, with both public and private sectors either actively reducing headcount through redundancies or restructuring, or not hiring any new people. I hope those affected can leverage the power of this community to remain connected and find support. We have close to 700 members and over 2000 followers in our LinkedIn group.

Please look out for each other and make sure we are giving our fellow women every opportunity to find their next role.

Ngā mihi
Eva Sherwood Hayter
Co-Chair, Tech Women
